HOMETOWN : Cardiff, Wales , UK
THE TAKE write driving (post) rock with reflective quiet parts and the drive of JAWBREAKER, a good dose of the DISCHORD and SUB-POP punk/rock sound.
Starting out under the name Fishtake in 1998, the band gained a strong local reputation and then made the wise move to rename themselves THE TAKE and followed this up with debut full length Propeller in 2003. In received amazing reviews both in the UK and abroad - and it's a release that is still name-checked by Household Name bands and others as one their favourites we've released.
After touring the record (alsongside THE LAWRENCE ARMS, CAPDOWN, JERRY BUILT and more) Will Rees left the band and, as a result of being temporarily drummer-less, The Take went through a bit of an inactive spell. Eventually Nathan Phillips joined on drums and the band started writing a whole bunch of new songs that were then recorded at the end of 2004/5 .
THE TAKE did a second album 'Dolomite' on the wonderful Bombed Out Records in 2006 but sadly the band split in February 2007.
